Agentic AI is changing what a platform can do. Software can move beyond presenting information to planning work, using tools and carrying out tasks. For founders, that opens up possibilities in both the customer experience and the way a business operates.
At Siris, agentic capability is part of every platform we build. We begin with the market: who the platform serves, what they need and why they would choose to participate.
Start with a reason to participate
A platform can take many forms: a SaaS product, a service business, a marketplace or a network. Each has its own demands. A marketplace may need to develop supply and demand together. A service platform may need to coordinate people, availability and delivery. A SaaS business needs an experience customers will adopt and continue to value.
Agents can help with that work. They might coordinate a process, act on relevant information or reduce the effort involved in using a service. Their value depends on whether they make something better for the people the platform serves.
Build the business around the capability
New capability brings operational questions. What should an agent be allowed to do? Where does someone need to review a decision? How will the business recognise a failure and respond? What does it cost to deliver a useful outcome?
These questions belong alongside the business model, customer experience and route to market. They shape whether a promising product can become a dependable business.
Our experience of taking platforms into production informs this view. A launch is a beginning. The platform and the organisation around it need to learn from use, support customers and adapt as demand develops.
Share foundations, keep a clear proposition
Platforms often face similar work underneath their different propositions. Authentication, tenancy and the runtime for agentic processes are examples. Knowledge about launching and operating a business can also be shared.
Shared foundations create room to concentrate on the distinctive parts: the customer need, the market and the experience. They are most useful when they support a clear purpose for each platform.
Follow the signals
Customer behaviour, participation and the economics of delivery tell a founder more than a feature list. They show where value is emerging and where the business needs to change.
That is the thinking behind our direction: Build for the market. Plan for growth. Agentic AI expands what is possible. A clear view of the business gives that capability a purpose.
If you’re exploring a platform business, we’d welcome a conversation.
